BUT FOR SPICES, THE MOST POPULAR RECIPE TASTES BLAND AND FLAVORLESS

Indian spices have earned global exposure since ages ago, for adding delicious flavor in the Indian delicacies. Traders from the world over took distant voyages in search of spices adding aroma and flavor to their dishes. With the growing presence of information technology across the globe today, a B2B Portal comes to the rescue of traders as well as global importers of Indian Spices, providing access to a business directory in addition to an exporters directory and suppliers directory.

To this date, spices have traveled beyond their association with specific cuisine and delicacies limited to a certain part of the globe alone. Various spices and herbs have also been found useful in medicinal supplements, while others are used in incense and perfumes industry.  On the other hand, a specific spice cannot be grown everywhere or a place other than the place of its origin. Thus, it becomes important to purchase or obtain the spice of choice from an exporter of supplier with necessary qualification or from a trustworthy source.

The sub-tropical environment of India provides the correct atmosphere for growing spices of a large variety. The country’s annual spices production is approximately 3 million tones, with earnings of $5 billion from annual exports to offshore destinations. The known 18 different spices that are grown in the country include Cardamom Small, Cardamom Large, Chilli, Coriander, Cumin, Celery,  Fennel, Fenugreek, Ginger, Garlic, Guar Seeds, Mint, Mace, Nutmeg, Pepper, Turmeric, Tamarind, Vanilla, Few value-added products are manufactured too, including Curry Powder, Oils and Oleoresins, and more.

Spices exports have registered substantial growth during the last five years, registering an annual average growth rate of 21% in value and 8% in volume. During the year 2010-11, spices export from India has registered an all time high both in terms of quantity and value.

India’s Spices Exports in the Financial Year 2010-11 has been 525,750 tonnes valued at US $ 1502.85 Million. Spices Exports in 2010-11 registers an increase of 5% in volume and that of 28% in value, against exports volume of 502,750  earning US $ 1173.75 in 2009-10. Of these, mint products have fetched the highest share of foreign currency valued at Rs.169679 Lakh. The country has earned an admirable position in Spices Trade globally with a share of 48% in volume and 44% in value.

With fast movement of people country-wise, growing spices and packaging condiments has taken the shape of an industry of late. And that is where the B2B Trade Portals have a big role to play. For example, a manufacturer of condiments for South Indian Cuisines is most likely to benefit a great deal from a suppliers directory and find relevant contacts looking at the manufacturers directory in one such portal. The same goes for a manufacturer of condiments for Chinese delicacies, with the rising number of Chinese and Fast Food Restaurants who must be searching for a preferable business partner in the Manufacturers directory.

After you have reached a reliable source for the choicest spice, knowing the correct price and the trend of increase and decrease in prices is important. The same information may prove invaluable for a spice supplier or a manufacturer of condiments. A business directory may provide the crucial information at the right time on that. A small scale supplier or distributor may find going to an exporter for the information not of much help. However, the same information is accessible for anyone at a business trade portal.
