Rubber Propelling Economy Growth

Rubber is a natural polymer, obtained out of latex, primarily produced by rubber trees. The elasticity of latex makes Natural Rubber quite stretchy, which is waterproof in nature, and turns into a useful Raw Material for manufacturing of a number of products in various industries. These include Tyres, Sports, some household products, and other Engineering applications too. Due to its elasticity, rubber has significant contribution in garments and textile industry too.

The industry in India is a key sector of the country’s economy. While it ranks the fourth among rubber producers globally, India’s consumption of the polymer is the third largest among consumers worldwide.

Update on Rubber Products and Major Manufacturers

The natural rubber’s elasticity helps provide important products made from the polymer, that are used as industrial and engineering products in addition to households, pharmaceutical disposables, as well as garments and toys too.  These products include Packing and Sealing Devices, Rubber Sheets, Flaps, Rubber Footwear, Hoses and Belts, Sponge, Balloons, Erasers.

The engineering products come in the form of Industrial Accessories, Hydraulic Component, Lathe-cut Mechanical Goods, Gaskets and Bladders for Aircraft Fuels, Bumper Pads, Molded Component, Shock Absorbers, Automotive and Appliance Moldings, Automotive Tires and Tubes. Products that come in use in other important part of modern life such as pharmaceutical disposables may include rubber gloves, prophylactics and bands, in addition to toys, etc.

International   Trade

Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, China, India, USA, South Africa and Sri Lanka are major manufacturers and exporters of these products. In addition to being a major manufacturer, India has a high consumption ratio of these products too.

Indian manufacturers and Indian Exporters of rubber products make good use of Indian Trade Portals and B2B Trade Leads, with adequate availability of natural rubber and products at very competitive prices.

Global Production and Consumption Statistics

The tree producing latex is known to have originated from South America. However, it is primarily produced in Asia today.  Thailand has the distinction of being the largest producer of natural rubber. It is produced in a number of countries including Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sir Lanka, and Vietnam.

An association of the above-mentioned countries together is known as ANRPC or ‘Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries’. Total rubber production of these 11 producing countries together was to the tune of 92% for the year 2010. With Thailand at the top in world rubber production, it is followed by Indonesia at the 2nd place. India has its position as the fifth largest producer of the commodity.  However, the country jumped to the 4th spot in the year 2010.

Thailand rates the highest among exporters of the commodity, with an export of 2683 Thousand Tones for the year 2010. It is immediately followed by Indonesia with an export of 2300 Thousand Tones of exports. Natural rubber production and exports data for Papua New Guinea and Singapore are not available.

A great opportunity awaits Indian manufacturers  and Indian Suppliers, especially keeping in mind the Automobile Sector and a large population providing higher consumer base.

Utilization of waste rubber products to help Reclaiming the polymer sounds and ideal way to take the prime position in the industry.
